Top 5 ways to make money from home during the pandemic

Make money during the pandemic

How can you make money from home during Covid-19?

The pandemic has thrown a curveball to both organizations and individuals alike. Companies are shutting down or downsizing, individuals are losing their jobs or getting reduced pay, and those who have not yet been affected are worried they might be soon.

Rather than sit at home worrying over a lost job or fear of losing the one you have, here are five ways you could make money from home even during a lockdown.

1. Monetize your hobbies

You know that thing you like to do or that you do better than other people? Yep, that exact thing! You can make money from it. It could be playing video games, cooking, singing, talking about politics, exercising, giving relationship advice, creating arts and crafts, photography, or any other thing you are passionate about. Thanks to the internet, you do not need a physical location to showcase your skill to the public. Simply open a TikTok account, a YouTube channel, an e-commerce website, or any other relevant platform. Start doing more of that thing consistently and promoting it online. Before long, people who like what you do will start gravitating towards you – and so will the money. You could make money either from sales of that product, charging a fee for that service, product placements, adverts, book sales, consultancy, and so on. You could even partner with a third party to help you do the selling and/or marketing.

2. Start a dropshipping business

Maybe you do not have any special skill or product to sell. That’s not a problem, there are tons of companies that create amazing products and are looking for people like you to help them sell it. This is called dropshipping. You simply order products for your customers from a third-party company, and it is the company that ships your customers’ products to them. With this business model, you do not have to worry about stocking the products in your house or all other related logistics – the third party company does that for you. This enables you to offer diverse products to your customers, without having to leave your home.

3. Sell masks or hand sanitizers

Hand sanitizers and masks are here to stay – at least for a while. You can start this business by reading or watching DIY masks and/or hand sanitizer tutorials on the internet, making your samples, and selling to family, friends, and online. You could decide to open an online store, or sell it through your social media pages, or even sell it on bigger online retail stores like Amazon.

4. Apply for WFH freelance jobs

There are a ton of freelance jobs online which do not require your physical presence to get the job done. These include jobs like virtual assistants, copywriting, graphic designing, researching, translation services, and so on. Surf the web for these freelance gigs, decide on which one(s) you would like to apply for, build up a portfolio of related works, then apply to as many of those jobs as you can. This may sound cliché, but the more you apply, the higher your chances of getting those jobs.

5. Offer a digital/tech service

The pandemic has made most businesses pivot towards more digital offerings and tech products. Now is the time for you to go brush up on your coding skills or take those Google Analytics courses you have heard so much about. There is a higher demand for digital and tech services such as app development, digital marketing, UX design, and much more. Even if you do not know anything about tech or digital products/services, there are tons of paid and free resources online to learn from. In just a few weeks or months, you could become proficient enough in certain digital/tech areas to start making good money from it.

These are the top five of the numerous ways you could make money from home. With the right amount of hard work and determination, you could start earning money from the comfort of your home. The ball is in your court. Eyes on the ball, eyes on the money.
